I try to make that cool light fixture

Mr DIY gives it a try and it doesn’t quite work.

In this recent post I show a light fixture I discovered in Met Home magazine and then on the web that is seemingly made out of simple, off the shelf parts, and I thought it would be fun to try to make something like it.

How hard could it be?

Well I spent prob 1/2 hour at Lowes buying some light sockets, light bulbs, wire, and twisty thingies, and then an hour or so while watching TV stripping wire and screwing things together.

I was able to get 2 of 4 bulbs working. The picture makes it look 3 or 4 are lit, but only 2 were. Well the 1st time I plugged it in, only 1 was.

Don’t know right now what could have gone wrong – I thought I twisted all the wires together correctly.

I bought 25w bulbs as those were the lowest wattage I would fine in this form factor. They seemed to get hot right away, and it makes me wonder if the bulbs touching each other will cause problems.

TBD is getting 4 bulbs to work, and then trying to figure out how to do the wiring/splicing w/ more wires, lots more.

Kinda fun….
