What countries support Alphanumeric Sender ID

Tropo supports sending messages using an alphanumeric sender ID to over 100 countries, though many have local regulations you’ll need to comply with. A complete list of countries and any local regulations appears below, but first, a couple of notes.

Operators in many countries require prior registration of alphanumeric sender IDs with the local authority and messages using an alphanumeric sender ID can only be used for transaction messages (i.e. no messaging that involves solicitation, advertising, marketing, reminders and the like).

Some countries may allow alphanumeric sender IDs without registration, as long as the message length and characters meet their guidelines.

Some countries don’t allow changing the Sender ID at all; for example, you can’t change the Sender ID for messages to North American or Brazilian recipients. In these countries, you must send the message from the Tropo phone number attached to your application. In some countries, mobile operators will automatically change any sender ID (including your Tropo number) to a carrier-controlled number or short code.

Tropo can assist you with sender ID registration in most countries. You may be asked for a proof of your company registration (business or tax license), message sample and various additional information required by the country where you plan to register your alphanumeric sender ID.

The list of countries that require prior registration, the list of countries where Tropo can provide registration assistance, and the required documentation for registration are constantly changing and sometimes changes without notice. Tropo Support will provide you a current list when you contact us to have this feature enabled.
